Valentines Day 2012

We don't really do anything super special for Valentines Day at our house. I did however get up and make us heart shaped pancakes for breakfast. Logan thought it was pretty cool that our pancakes were HEARTS :)! So at least he was excited!

Then I tried to dress the kiddos up in Valentine-ish Clothes and take pictures, but for some reason they don't like to sit very long for pictures (wonder where they got that from) so this is what I got.

Then we went to town and bought stuff to make a fun Valentine Treat, went and got a toy from Kings and rented two movies one of which was a free Valentine Movie from Redbox :)!

The best part of making the treat was that Logan sat and helped me with every step! But I think it was because I let him occasionally eat an ingredient here and there. It sure was fun to see how excited he was when we got everything done.

We had a pretty low key day with a few fun extras! So it was a great day! We got to settle down after dinner and we watched Mr Poppers Penguins (Super Cute Movie) and The Help (Also a good movie). Matthew and I will be going out to dinner sometime next week to celebrate. So Happy Valentines Day 2012!!!!

The Day I Realized My Babies are Growing Up

At the first part of February we were hanging out at home, just like most days and it hit me that my cute little babies are growing up :(! They sure are growing up way too fast, and it sure is such a blessing that I get to spend everyday with them, experience: new things, scary things, sad things, happy things, and funny things with them. I have to say that creating memories with these two is the greatest accomplishment of my life. Although I have days that I wish I could go back to working, or days where I feel unappreciated, or just plain warn-out, I wouldnt trade being able to be at home with my kids for anything. Here are two of the most precious things in this mothers world:

Logan and I were playing in the living room and we didnt hear a peep from Ashlee so we went exploring and this is what we discovered. One very tired little girl.

She was laying in front of the vent. Who could blame her, warm air blowin on her and her favorite blankie :)!

So precious we just couldnt move her!!!

I believe this was the moment it hit me that time is moving way too fast.

Watching them together, sure brought a smile to my face. I just love that they LOVE doing things together!

So it has been a bit chilly here in Buhl and I am just not one to brave the cold lately. So we have been spending a lot of time inside entertaining ourselves. This is what Mr. Logan has been up to:

The Best of Friends

In the last month Logan and Ashlee have really taken to playing with each other. Not that they didn't before, but it is just really fun to watch them interact with each other. They just do everything together. I love that they are becoming the Best of Friends!

Her first time having a Popsicle by herself. She does a really good job, it doesn't really get all over her! She is growing up way too fast.

This past weekend my dad came up from Utah to see my grandparents and to make a stop to see us. When we were in twin getting our groceries we stopped in at my grandparents house to see everyone. We ate pizza and played a few games then we headed home to get our groceries put away.

My dad had to do a few things for my grandparents and then he came out to our house and we ate dinner and played wipe out on the wii. It sure was a night of good laughs. It was good to see him.

Then on Sunday he brought my grandparents over to our church, because Matt was talking in sacrament with Dylan and Flint. It was a pretty great meeting. Logan sure was sad when they had to leave, which means he had a good time. So we look forward to when we get to see him and Cyndi again :)!

I Finally Did It

So those who know me know that I HATE to cook. I only do it because I have a husband and 2 kids that need to eat. I wish we only needed to eat like 3 times a week, but sad to say we have to eat 3 meals a day:(! Don't get me wrong I love food, I just love it more when someone else is the one cooking it. So another thing to add to our list of "when we have some extra money", is a personal CHEF :)! So until then, here is what we did that has actually brought my hate of cooking down to a strong dislike. It isn't a new idea and in fact I think quite a few people do it, but it is a new concept around our house. What is it you ask? It is a two week menu.

What a novel idea! I have tried this before with no success and this time around I did things a little different. During my failed attempt I wrote down what we were having each night of the week and then usually when that night came around I didn't feel like what was on the menu :(! And I hated trying to figure out what it was that I wanted instead. So I stopped doing the menu thing and continued hating to fix dinner. This time, I sat down and wrote down 14 things that sounded good (new and old recipes) and then we headed to the grocery store to get all the needed items. Which was quite the experience.

It had been like a month since we had been to the grocery store and our cupboards and fridge were pretty empty.I kind of dreaded going to town, because I hate the grocery bill when things get this low. Anyway, it was the first time in a long time that Matt went with me to get groceries. It was kind of fun, until towards the end and then I remember why it is that I usually go do it by myself. He is fine until you have been out for a while then he is just kind of whinny and he gets pretty agitated pretty easily. So usually I just leave him home and go on a day that my mom can help me with the kids and we usually have a blast :)! (Not that I dont have a blast with Matt, it just has to be a short shopping trip or neither one of us has a fun time). Anyway the 4 of us went to Costco and Winco, and we did great. We spent more than we wanted to at Costco, but like I said we were really running low. Then when we went to WinCo we were both a little shocked. We thought for sure we were going to go way over our budget. But to our surprise with a few coupons and sticking to the list, it was a lot less than we thought. YAY!

So lessons learned through this whole menu and shopping trip; I have enjoyed making a menu this time around and I look forward to cooking dinner, first because the ideas are already there and second because I know that I have all the stuff to make them. I have also learned that making a list of items that will actually be apart of already decided meals, and then buying them, really does help with saving money and making my job as shopper/cook a whole lot easier and more effective. So not only did I finally do it, but I have enjoyed it!!!!

We have had the Chicken Caesar Salad and I have to say that it hit the spot and was way better than I thought it would be. I bought a head of lettuce and cut it up, grilled three chicken breasts, we added olives and tomatoes, parmesan cheese, and a bottle of caesar dressing. It sure was good and we had a little leftover for lunch today! Tonight we are going to have Chicken Cordon Bleu Casserole. I hope it is as good as it looked on pintrest.

Another fun thing we did for family night was to make a s'mores treat. It was golden grahams, chocolate chips, and marshmallows. I just mixed the golden grahams and chocolate chips. Then I melted the marshmallow in a pan with a little butter on the stove and then poured it over the cereal and chocolate chips. I loved it and I like it better than muddy buddies which have always been one of my favorites.

The Last Box has Arrived!

So it has been a year since we got an awesome little envelope from fed-ex saying that we won a years worth of diapers! We sat down and figured out what we needed and it has worked out to be about 1-1/2 to 2 years of diapers :)!!!!! We were given $1000 to spend on diapers at Diapers.com! (I love Diapers.com, by the way!) It worked out great because we didn't have to go anywhere to buy them, they came right to our door. I also saved about $113 by sending in coupons and signing up for some of diapers.com deals. So we actually got $1113 worth of diapers in 2010. It has been such a huge help financially this past year. I am just glad that we will have enough diapers (hopefully) until we start potty training Ashlee!

Christmas 2011

What a fun Christmas it was this year! Logan is just getting to be such a fun little boy! To see the excitement in his eyes was all the Christmas present that I needed this year. When he finally rolled out of bed, he had to go check and see if the reindeer ate his food he left for them and also if the cookies he left for Santa were gone. Much to his surprise they were both gone. So he knew Santa had been to our house :)! He was pretty excited to open all the presents he had under the tree but we had to hurry and get ready for church. Seeing as how Christmas was on Sunday this year, we had only one hour of church (Sacrament Meeting). We did however let the kiddos open up their stockings and they sure it gold there.

We spent a little too much time looking through the stockings so we had to rush to get ready for church. We did make it only a few minutes late. It was a good Christmas program by our choir and then we headed home so that we could enjoy opening presents. When we got home Logan bolted to the tree, but we made him stop to try and get at least one cute picture of the kids in the Christmas outfits.

I really didnt have much options because this is a long as Logan would sit still. But I think it turned out cute! Love these two little ones, make life worth living!

So now it is on to the presents. I have to say that Ashlee was about as interested in opening presents as she was at her birthday (not at all!!!) So it was a good thing that Logan opened pretty much all of them. He sure did a good job. He just ripped through them one right after the next. Sure was fun watching him.

His new desk! (Have to write about this, I walked into Kings one day and they had these desk at the front with a pink sticker on them. The pink sticker meant that they were 75% off. It was a $45 desk and I got it for $12. I was super excited about it. We didnt plan on getting it for him, but I just couldnt pass up such a sweet deal :))!

ChRiStMaS eVe!!

Cant believe it is already Christmas Eve and we are about done with 2011. This year all the Jacobson's will be together for Christmas. We get together Christmas Eve and have a fun evening! We always eat good food and play games. It truly is getting harder and harder to play games, because there are getting to be more and more little kids and you always get interrupted for one thing or another, but we still managed to play a few games. I sucked at getting pictures of Christmas Eve, but just know that it was a wonderful evening, but it always is.

We each brought a finger food and then a Christmas treat to share. Then we had a meat and cheese tray and rolls for sandwiches. Made for a lot of yummy food!

Along with playing games, Grandma made some sugar cookies for all the kids to decorate for Santa!

Daddy helped Logan decorate these! Good Job Logan and Daddy! I am sure Santa is going to love these!

Then after decorating cookies we all sat down to watch an animated movie about the Birth of Christ, so that way we could all teach the kids the true meaning of Christmas. It was very good and the kids, actually sat and watched it. We also tracked Santa on the internet and the kids kept checking to see where he was. Logan was very much interested in watching Santa and there was a point when someone did something that made Santa disappear from the screen and Logan came bawling to Matt, that Santa was gone. I dont mean he was just a little sad, he was very upset and bawling that Santa was gone, made me laugh a little, but at least I know he is starting to get the whole Santa thing and what a wonderful thing :)!!!

So then it was getting late and we needed to get home so that everyone could get in bed, so that Santa could visit our house. So the kids got to get into their Christmas Eve jammies. Which this year were homemade!

(I cant take the credit for the sewing, my mom did it, but I did the rest.)

1 Year Check-Up

I was a bit of a slacker when it came to scheduling Ashlees 1 year check-up. I wish they would have just done it at her last check-up, but they weren't scheduling that far in advance. Oh well, I got it scheduled and we went in to see Dr. Trotter on Dec 23rd, which was Grandma (Lisa's) Jacobsons Birthday! Happy Birthday Grandma :)!!! So we went in and met up with my mom and she took Logan so that I only had to deal with Ashlee at the Dr's Office. YAY!! Sure makes for an easier visit. Anyway, it was a great visit we just love Dr. Trotter! It is always good to hear that your child is healthy and growing and developing just perfectly. Makes for a very happy mommy! Our little Ashlee is growing, she sure is a petite little thing but she is growing!

South Hills Lights!

If you havent been this way and gone and seen the lights in the South Hills it is pretty cool. We debated whether we should go or not, but Logan kept on insisting that we go to the mountains! So we headed to Twin (Dec 22) to Jaces 5th Birthday Party and then decided that we would just head to the South Hills from there. How time is flying by, cant believe that Jace is 5! Happy Birthday to Jace!! Logan had a blast playing with all the cousins that were there. But he was sure excited to go to the South Hills, to see the lights and feed the camel. It was a fun drive to go see the lights, we talked about the camel, and what he was going to ask Santa for. I love that we can have conversations, and there is nothing better than the honesty of a child :)!!!!

Funny story about the camel. So as we were trying to get a picture of the camel, from the side (because there was a long line of people waiting to see the camel), Matthew leans over to me and says, "Do you think the camel has been standing there all day?" I was like what? Then he proceeded to point to a gigantic pile of poop right behind the camel. We both busted up laughing :)! It sure looked like the camel might have been standing in the same spot for a week. Funny boys and the things they notice :)! Sure made for a good laugh though!

Wedding Weekend!

What a wonderful week and weekend it has been! Tuesday Night Tianna took out her endowments and it was a neat experience to be in the Temple with all of Matt's family except for Dylan (wont be long before he gets to go through before his mission though)! Just cant explain how awesome it was! Then we were all together again Saturday morning for her and Richards sealing! What another beautiful experience! I just love going to sealings! The sealing was beautiful and Tianna was just stunning, she was so beautiful! We are so happy for Richard, Tianna and Emma! We sure wish them the best! Glad we got to share in their wonderful weekend! I am so glad to be a part of such a wonderful family!

How time seems to be going faster and faster everyday! I cant believe it has been a year since we welcomed such a sweet and precious little girl into our lives and home! It sure has been a fun year and we were glad that we got to celebrate her 1st Birthday with family!

We actually celebrated her birthday on Saturday the 10th which was actually Flints Birthday, so we had to sing to him. I made him a pan of no bake cookies, because he likes them! So Happy Birthday to Papa Jacobson!

We got to meet up with Grandma in Twin and she helped us get some of our Christmas shopping done.

So our ward Christmas Party was last night. Matthew took Logan, while Ashlee and I stayed home, because I am trying to get over a nasty cold. Matthew said it was a great party. He called me to tell me that Logan wouldn't sit on Santa's lap and that we would have to go to Twin and see if he would some other day. But then when he got home he told me that he had Logan watch a few kids do it and then Logan felt okay with it.

Everyday Life

So life has just been just life lately. I have been sick for what seems like forever now. We have all stayed home all week, so the house seems to keep getting messy despite my attempts to get everything put in its place. We are having Ashlee's Birthday this weekend and I am trying to not only put things in their place but also do a little deep cleaning and get all my little junk piles finally put away :)! So while I have been busy being sick (which I am finally starting to feel better) and cleaning this is what the kiddos have been up to!

Logan has found a way to play trains even around all my cleaning stuff and all the mess!

He is pretty darn smart and he amazes me everyday with the things he comes up with. He did a good job going around the stove :)!

Ashlee has started walking if you cant tell. Still has a few wobbly days, but she is doing great!

This morning I put on a cute outfit sent to Ashlee from Aunt Courtney and I didn't have a bow to match so I quickly threw this one together. It is a new style that I want to start making. I thought it turned out cute and it looks great on her. But what doesn't, she sure is a cute little stink!

Cant believe she is almost one! Time needs to slow down a little, my two kiddos are growing up way too fast!

A little blurry because Logan wouldn't hold still. But what a blessing these two kids are. I sure love that I get to spend everyday with them. Being a mom is the greatest job ever!

Black Friday!!

So I once again braved the Black Friday Celebration/Craziness!! What was I thinking?! Every year I go and every year I say that it is my last. I will have to see what next year brings, but people are getting more and more crazy and I am not sure that it is worth it. I go with the attitude that if I get it great, if I dont it will probably go on sale again before Christmas and I will just get it then. I did get a few things and am happy with what I got, but I really need to decide if its worth it. I hope others enjoyed Black Friday, but I was there at 10pm and home at 1:30am and sure glad to be home in my bed. So until next year Happy Crazy Black Friday to all!

This year for Thanksgiving we spent the day at Flint and Lisa's. It was Flint, Lisa, Tianna, Dylan, Matthew, Me, Logan Ashlee, Brandon, Maricela, Hailey, Jayden, Vicki and Anna. So it was a pretty full house. We sure had good food, played a few games, watched football, looked at Black Friday ads, and ate some more good food. It was and always is a fun day. It is just always nice to be surrounded by family and just relax and have fun! Happy Thanksgiving to all!!!

So every year after Thanksgiving the boys usually go get our Christmas trees. This year it was decided that it is just too much hassle to go get one in the mountains, plus the selection just isn't that great anymore. So this year we had to start a new tradition and it will continue from now on. We went to a parking lot and picked out a tree. This year Logan and I were in town and met up with Flint and we picked out our tree and Flint brought it home for us in his truck. I have to say that Logan and I picked out a pretty tree this year. He was so excited and if you ask him "His tree is pretty awesome!"

It is pretty big and takes up a lot of room in our living room!

This Little Piggy

So the dairy is home to 5 new little piggies! They are right outside our fence, which means that they have a frequent visitor, LOGAN!! He loves them. The other day Matthew took him out to see them and they were snorting and Logan kept saying that they were farting :)!! We couldn't convince him otherwise. It is sure going to be fun having them around.

I just think that they are super cute.

One Sick Little Girl

So yesterday, Ashlee woke up about 5:30am with one heck of a fever. So we gave her some tylenol and Matt gave her a blessing to help her get through the next couple of hours until the peds center opened. We made it and got her into see the doctor to find out that she has a double ear infection. Yep poor little girl! Logan never got an ear infection so this is a first for sicknesses around here. Good thing we got her in now hopefully she will be feeling better for her First Thanksgiving!!! :)!!!!!

Halloween 2011

I look forward to trying to come up with costumes so that we all match. This year we were the INCREDIBLES. I tried to keep the cost down and got alot of the stuff on sale. I think they turned out great and I already have the idea for our costumes for next year, so I will be watching the sales all next year to get what I need. I cant wait. I love Halloween!

This year our ward had a Halloween Party, which I was excited for. I kind of volunteered the Primary to be over it, oops :)! But that is okay. It turned out to be a huge success and I believe everyone had a wonderful time. We had a potato bar, with all the toppings, a chili cook-off, caramel and apples for dessert and water, homemade root beer, and hot apple cider for drinks. Then we had a few carnival games for the kids and a trunk or treat. We had a guy in our ward make a maze in his horse trailer and it was a huge hit. It sure was a wonderful evening that I really didnt get to enjoy, because I was running around making sure that everything was running smoothly. I didnt even get to enjoy any of the yummy food, I am a huge fan of chili and I didnt get a bite of a single one. Oh well, I am just glad that everyone had a great time :)!!!!!!!

Wow it has been a long three months! I usually just get in and get all my canning done, but I have had tons of other projects that have required my time, not to mention two kids and a husband. I dont know how others do it. I thought I loved canning, but man it was tough this time around. I will have to take the advice of my Grandma Jaynes and go sit in my fruit room until I appreciate all the hard work put into our storage, then maybe I will like it again for next year :)! It has been a very long but fruitful canning season. It is good to see the shelves all full and to know that we have food. It is crazy how well our garden did and I think that we will be rethinking how much we plant next year. I know I always like to plant more than we need, because I like to share with those who need it. I just have to write down just how crazy the garden was. I was able to share cucumbers with about everyone. I think I picked over 300 cucumbers and there are about 50 or more in the garden for the cows to eat. I was also able to give carrots away. I canned about 90 pints and gave away 36 pints and kept the rest for us. I still have enough carrots still out in the garden to can about 30 more pints, but like it says I am done, so I will be trying to give them away (or if I cant I will have to can them in quarts :(! ) I was also able to give my grandparents tomatoes and they were able to get 36 quarts of juice from them and I also canned 9 quarts of whole tomatoes for them. They arent in great health but my grandpa love tomatoes, so I thought I would help him out. I might do one more thing. My friend makes really good white chicken chili recipe and I am trying to figure out how to can it, so I might have one more canning project. But all in all, the harvest is in and I am one tired mama. So until next year, I AM FINISHED!!!!

Random Happenings

We sat in the scale house and weighed in trucks for corn silage.

It was definitely harder with two kids this year.

I have been helping my grandparents once a week and Logan has come to love their electric chair. He has figured out how to operate it himself and if we cant find him, he is usually on the chair.

Daddy's Little Helper

So Logan loves to get up and go help Daddy feed the calves in the mornings. Daddy get him all bundled up and they head out the door. The first time Logan went, he came in with the biggest smile on his face and told me "I feed cows with daddy." He was very proud and you could tell. So he went out quite a few days and I decided that Ashlee and I would get all bundled up too, so that we could go check out all the excitement that comes with feeding calves with Daddy.

Primary Program

Wow so this was a first for me. Since I am the Primary President in our ward, I wrote our primary program. It was a great experience for me, but I was kind of nervous as the last time I did anything with the primary program was over 15 years ago, when I was in Primary.

The theme this year was "I Know The Scriptures Are True!" It was a fun theme to write a program for. We have eight classes in our primary so we picked eight topics and a song to go along with it. Each class would give their parts and then we would sing the song that went along with the classes theme. We ended our program singing "Holding Hands Around the World and Armies of Helamen." The Senior Primary played bells with the choruses of each song, it sounded great! It sure was a fun program. We have amazing kids and wonderful teachers and music leaders. Now its time to get geared up for next year :)!!!!

This year Logan was lucky and had two parties. The first one was the week before his birthday. We thought that since a lot of family was here for Michelles wedding that we would have a party to save them from making two trips. This one was really for all the family on my side. Logan got to have a party with my Aunt Shelli and her kids Haylee, Zack, and Brodie, my Aunt Dana, Uncle Ron, Kourtney, My Dad, Cyndi, Michelle, Val, Richard, Joy, and Grandma and Grandpa Peterson. It was a fun day Logan got had someone to play with, we had good food, and we had a few laughs and Logan got some fun birthday gifts. So he had a fun day and it sure was a good way for him to start out his Birthday!!

It was a great weekend. First off Friday night my mom, me, Aunt Becky, Uncle Fred, Aunt Kathi, Uncle Jeff, Michelle and Val went to the church and set up all the decorations for the wedding. It was fun, we had a great time talking and laughing, but we sure stayed up late. Then Saturday we got up and headed to Twin. Tanille was wonderful and did my hair for me despite not feeling too good, I really appreciated it! Then we went and got Matthew his birthday shoes. Then headed to the church for pictures and the wedding. The kids were sure troopers through everything. Well we got pre-wedding pictures done and then it was time for the wedding to start. I have to say that standing at the front watching Michelle walk down the aisle got me a little choked up. It was good to see her happy and she looked beautiful. It was a beautiful ceremony and then the reception was right after it. It was fun to get to visit with family. Sure made for a great weekend.

I am happy for Michelle and Val and hope that they have many happy years together!!!!

Ten Days In Utah

After Matthew was gone on his 50 miler for a whole week, we got to see him for three days and then the kids and I packed up the car and headed to Utah. We left Wednesday the 17th and didnt get back home until the 26th. So it is officially the longest the kids and I have been away from home and away from Matthew.

The reason for the trip was that my aunt and uncle wanted to go to New York on vacation, but needed someone to watch their kids so that they could go, so they called me and I thought why not. So we were headed for Utah and a fun 10 day get-away. We stayed at my Aunt Vicki and Uncle Donny's house from the 17th to the 24th. It was a fun and crazy time. I thougth 2 kids was quite a change, taking care of 4 was definitely harder, especially since 2 of them werent mine. I had fun with them though, it was a fun and relaxing time. We went to swimming lessons, played at the park, played games, watched movies, and just had fun hanging out. Bill and Abbey were a lot of help. We also got to meet my Uncle Donnys sister Jackie and her daughter Alex. Alex got accepted to BYU and they came from Georgia to get her settled in. It was fun to get to know them both. So it was a great 8 days with them.

It was sad saying bye to my Aunt and Uncle and Bill and Abbey, but we had plans to go spend a few day with my dad and Cyndi since we dont get to Utah too often. So we spent the evening of the 24th together, the 25th and then I got up and headed home on Friday the 26th. I figured that since Matthews birthday was the 27th that it would be nice of us to be home to celebrate it with him :)!!!! But we had a great time with my dad and Cyndi. We spent the 25th doing lots of fun things. First we meet up with Julie (Cyndi's daughter in law) and her two kids, Trevor and Jacob, at the Dinosaur Museum at Thanksgiving Point. It was really a fun place to go and Logan loved it! Then we went and ate at this amazing hamburger place that I cant remember the name of, it wasnt the healthiest, but they have pretty darn good food. Then we headed to the Living Aquarium. It was a pretty amazing place. Logan loved all the animals and even Ashlee got excited to see all the different animals. We got to see them feeding the anaconda that they had. It was eating a guinea pig, which was pretty awesome to watch. I hate snakes and I was glad that it was behind glass. They told us that she was 12 feet long and would get up to 25 ft. Does anyone else think that a snake shouldnt get that big ?!! It was cool to watch it eat, but I never want to come across one face to face ever in my lifetime. I was however pretty fascinated by the octopus that they had. I just thought that it was pretty cool to see one up close and personal. They are pretty amazing creatures. We just had such an amazing time hanging out with my dad that day. There sure are a lot of fun things to do in Utah, but glad I just get to visit every once in a while (just too many people for my taste). After the Aquarium we did a little shopping, we looked at toys, clothes and we went to this store called Gygi. It is a bakers and cooks paradise. I loved it and could have spent all day there if I would of had time. So if you are ever in Utah look it up and stop by. I just cant even describe how awesome it was. So a big thanks to my dad for a wonderful day and a big thanks to Cyndi for letting him take the day off to spend with us.

It sure was a wonderful 10 days, getting to spend time with family we dont see as often as we wish we could. But it was sure good to get headed home, we missed our beds, or normal routines and of course we missed daddy the most :)!!!!! Thanks to everyone for making it a wonderful 10 days.

A Week Without Daddy

So Matthew got the privlege of getting to head to the mountains for a week with the boys from our ward that went on the 50-miler. He was pretty excited because he enjoys it and it had been a long time since he has had the opportunity to go. It was also good for him to get a break from life and just have some fun. He has been so busy study and working that he really doesnt get much time to just relax, so I was glad that he got this opportunity. They left Sunday the 7th and returned Saturday the 13th. We missed him very much the whole week he was gone, but we kept ourselves busy. We were glad to have him home, and to hear some of his stories from the week. He had a blast and he sure enjoyed being out there with the boys. There were only six boys that went this year and then Flint, Matthew, Bishop Lani Schofield and His dad were the leaders that went. And as far as I can tell it was a pretty good week! Now I am not sure that I will be able to keep him from going every time they go, but I am not sure that I will stop him :)!!! I am just glad that he got to go and that he had an enjoyable time.

So it sure was a busy week for Logan, Ashlee and I. I am not sure that we Stayed home much, but we spent a good week with family, so it was a good busy week.

Monday 8th- We just stayed home and straightened the house. I didnt get as much done as I wanted to, but I did however make more time to spend playing with Logan and Ashlee. So it was a pretty relaxing day.

Tuesday 9th- We went in to Twin and I help my mom lay a paver walk-way. It was pretty hot, but we got it done. She is fixing up here house and has done some pretty sweet things, she has painted her siding a sage green with white trim and red doors. It is looking great! This was my first time laying a paver walkway and it sure was a lot of work even for just the little bit we laid. I sure wouldnt want to lay anything bigger than this. But glad we got it in and it looks great!

Wednesday 10th-I mowed my lawn and did some stuff around the house and then Michelle came out and spent the day with us, we also went down and I mowed the lawn for Lisa to help her out. Michelle and I then played games and played with the kiddos. So another busy yet fun day.

Thursday 11th- I had an appointment in Twin in the morning and then I met up with my friend Shauna and we got to eat lunch at the Burnt Lemon Grill. SO YUMMY! Then we went back to her house and just talked and let the kids play in the little kiddie pool she has. So it was another great day.

Friday12th- We went back to Shaunas house and hung out with her. We made some cute fabric flower hairclips, let the kids play in the hot tub, ate good food, and talked, laughed and had a great day :)!

It was a good week for everyone, but it was sure nice to have everyone home together :)!!!!!

This year we weren't able to head up into the mountains, but we got to camp at the next best place, down at 1000 Springs Resort. It was quiet, we were next to a pool and the river. We had a fun time.

Our Garden Is Growing!!!

So I have been working hard out in our garden almost everyday. I like to spend just a little time everyday weeding, water, looking. Since I absolutely love gardening it has always been something that I enjoy and I have loved trying new tactics. I think that it has helped and we are hopefully going to have a wonderful garden this year and I think that canning season is going to wonderful as well. :)!!!!!!

These are our watermelon and cantaloupe. They arent doing the best but its our first year so hopefully we will get things figured out.

My Sisters Getting Married

My Big Sis is getting married on September 3rd. So we had a bridal shower for her on July 23rd, because that is the day she told us to have it! You just gotta love Michelle, she is pretty stubborn and when she has her mind made up, there is no changing it :)!!! It was a little short notice for people to come, but we had a pretty good turnout. We played a few games: Guess the herbs and spices, wedding word scramble and then we answered questions to get to know more about Michelle and Val. Then we had a light snack of delicious fresh fruit, brownie cupcakes, banana bars, and lemonade :)!! Then Michelle opened her gifts. A big thanks to Jen for helping me. It was fun!

Family Updates

Matthew finished he last general course earlier this month and passed his test. Now he is starting on his nursing courses. The goal is to be finished with all his courses by Christmas :)! He is just working on the dairy and waiting to hear if he gets to work at the schools again this year. He is really hoping and he has been dreaming lately that he is back working with the kids. I think he really enjoys that job so I hope he gets to go back.

Logan- do I need to say more. He is just quite a little rambunctious little boy. He sure keeps me on my toes all the time and I wouldnt have it any other way. He is growing to fast and I love all the fun things he does on a daily basis.

His new thing is that we tell him not to pee his pants and so he thinks that he cant get any pants wet. I put swim shorts on him so that he can go play outside and strips down to nothing. It sure is a good thing we live in the country and I think that I am going to have to put him in the bath tub with his swim shorts on to solve the naked issue.
The other morning I went to change him into clothes for the day and he wouldnt let me take off his jammies. He said, " Logan's shirt, I handsome, I handsome!" I couldnt stop laughing. Matthew came in and said did he just say he was handsome and we both just laughed :)!!!

She has been sitting up by herself for quite a while.

We tried her out in her jumperoo at the beginning of this month and she loved it.
She is loving food. We had mastered carrots, sweet potatoes and squash, applesauce and bananas.

She is the happiest baby and is the best baby ever!
She still sleeps through the night 8:30pm-6:30am. YAY!!!

Me- Well lets just say life has been a little stressful this past week. Primary President has been really stressful for me. I have a counselor who has a sister with cancer and she has been gone a lot (which is totally understandable). My other counselor just is too busy to be of any assistance (GRRR!). Who isnt busy? If it wasnt for my secretary I think I would have given up already! But I am hanging in their. I just had a stressful Sunday. I had to teach sharing time for the second week in a row, which was okay, because it was a really great one. I enjoyed teaching it. My secretary was gone for her sisters week in California and then both my counselors left after sacrament, which left me all by myself. Talk about stressed out. We made it through, but I think that I need to change things. So hopefully I can get things figured out, because we need to have the program ready to go by the end of September and we havent started on it. I sure hope I have a better week this week :)!

Hanging Out With Grandma

So I am a bit behind on blogging but oh well. So on July 2nd the kids and I headed to Twin to meet up with my mom. We just stopped in to see her and then get all the groceries we would need for all the 4th of July festivities. We had fun hanging out and here are a few pictures of our adventure.

This past Friday the 15th of July, mom was planning on heading down to Utah to help my Uncle Alan grout his back splash in his kitchen. I figured that I didnt really have much going on so we tagged along for the ride.

Ashlee thought that they were pretty cute and when she got a hold of it, there was no chance for the kitten.

Sometimes it got to close and to playful and she wasnt so sure about it.

Yep this is how Logan would carry them all around the house, poor kitten, I bet it was happy when we left.

Leo Smith Family Reunion

So on Saturday the 9th of July we went to the Leo Smith Family Reunion. Lisa was in charge of it this year and it was close so we were able to go. We packed the car with toys for Ashlee, towels, swimming gear and a change of clothes and hit the road. We headed for Hagerman and we ready for a day of rafting. We ate good food and then spent the rest of the day rafting :)! So a big thanks to Lisa and Flint for putting it together, it sure was a fun day! It was fun to meet people that I didnt know and to see those again who I did know.

I had to guide a raft and this was my first time, so I made all those who had been before go in my raft. We did pretty good, we hit some really good rapids and then missed a few, but it was still fun.

The 4th of July is one of my favorite holidays. It is a great day to remember all those who have and who continue to fight for our freedoms. We truly do live in a wonderful land and we are truly blessed to live in the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!

We are grateful to all the men and women who fight in our behalf, so that we can enjoy all the rights and freedoms that we have.

We also got a game of volleyball going, it was 3 on 3, but it was fun anyway. We played two games and each team won one game, so sometime we will have to play another one to see who the winner really is.

Besides playin in the sunshine we ate some good food. This year we had hamburgers and hotdogs for lunch with fruit and chips for lunch. Then for dinner we had dutch oven chicken, potatoes, a few salads and then for dessert we had dutch oven cobblers and homemade ice cream. Of course we had homemade rootbeer to drink. So we were well fed. After eating dinner we started the fireworks. First it was the sparklers with the little kids and then we moved on to the big ones.

Yep it was a long day for both of us. I was sweaty from playing vball and Logan was just all tuckered out. He slept through yet another year of fireworks. But its okay because I got a few good pics this year.

My camera battery died and so I didnt get any pictures of the big fireworks. So note to self, even though you think the camera battery has enough power, charge it anyway for the fun events that way you dont miss anything. It was a wonderful 4th of July and we cant wait for next year! Thanks to everyone for making it a fun time again this year :)!

So June 25th was Hal's birthday. So we headed over on Sunday to go see the Garners. It is always great to spend time with them. We got to visit with Trent and Brandon for a little while, before they had to head back to Boise. So we talked while Logan got to play in the BIG Bath tub! He was pretty excited and didnt want to get out. He is a pretty funny kid. I put him in the hot tub in his underwear and he freaked out and took them off because he couldnt get them wet, so he ran around naked for quite a while. So we had fun playing outside and then we went inside and played a 5 Crowns and Uno and ate some good food. It was a fun day!

A Few Firsts!

So this summer is going to be full of a lot of FIRSTS for Logan! We started off with having Carson stay the night with us while Zac, Laura and Macey went to help get Grandpa Jacobson's truck unstuck. So we blew up the air mattress and they watched Over the Hedge and a few episodes of Spongebob and they were both sound asleep. I slept out on the couch just to make sure they were okay. They both did great and next time I am sleeping in my bed.

Carson got to stay until lunch time the next day so we played outside. I mowed the lawn and Logan, Carson and Ashlee all played outside. Logan and Carson chased each other and played on the swing set. Ashlee sat in the shade in her exersaucer and just enjoyed being outside. I even was able to con the boys into stacking some branches that I cut off our trees into a pile for me. They sure were a lot of help. So it was definitely a fun first sleep over at our house for Logan. He sure was upset that Carson had to go home, and was sad for about a hour or two after he left :(! So we will have to have Carson come over and spend the night again!

The other first is that yesterday my mom took the day off because the Circus was in town and she took Logan to it! They sure had a fun day, with all the fun stories that I heard. He had so much fun that he didn't want to come home, he wanted to go spend the night with GRANDMA!

Now this is yet another first at the Circus. My mom gave him a choice to either get his picture taken with a BEAR or to ride the ELEPHANT. Although his eyes lit up when he told me that he saw a BEAR, he was even more excited that he got to ride an ELEPHANT!!!!

Some time we will have to go to a bigger Circus because Matthew has never been to one. Then maybe we can all ride an Elephant. So a big thanks to Grandma for making yesterday such a fun memory for Logan! He sure had a big smile on his face when he got home. He also had an incredibly annoying space gun that he seemed to come home with from the circus too! So thanks again Grandma! (Its really not that bad, its actually kind of cool)

So he will be experiencing yet another first with Grandma today and I will post pics and stories after I hear how things went :)!!!!!!

It is going to be a great summer for us this year!!!!

So Logan got to go to his first movie at the movie theater. Yep it was CARS 2! He did great at it and only had to go to the bathroom a thousand times, because I guess he had a lot to drink :)! I am not sure if it was a good movie or as good as the first, but it had McQueen and Mater in it so who cares. So we will have to go as a family sometime. I cant wait!

Out With the Old in With the New

So Matthews camera that he has had for seven years had to finally be put to rest. It just up and quit on us last week. It was a sad moment for Matt, because he had been through a lot with his camera. His friend was there for him through what was to be his best two years, in Pennsylvania. Then for our start and what has been our best 4 yrs, as a family :)! We gave him a proper resting place as Logans new toy camera.(You cant just throw an old friend away!) So we will now take a few moments of silence for a lost friend :(! ....................................................................................

Now on to the new and awesome camera. We got a Nikon Coolpix camera with a touch screen and lots of fun and awesome features!

Since Logan wont sit still for pictures yet little Miss Ashlee will be the model for the feature that I love.

Little Boys!

So I have a few more little stories to share about what Logan has been up to. So I usually let Logan go outside and play while I do things around the house. I check on him usually every 5-10 minutes to make sure that he is in the yard and not doing anything that he shouldnt. Also recently he has been going into the corral with cows in it that is next to our house. He gets in trouble and has to come inside everytime he goes into the corral. But he really doesnt care and we keep putting him in timeout when he does, and he keeps going in. Well the other day, Matthew brought him in because he was out in the corral and the funny thing was that he was in nothing but his church shoes. Yep he was naked and in his nice church shoes. What was he thinking? I have no idea nor do I know how he made it outside without his clothes on. He sure does keep me on my toes and I have to keep a close on him all day.

Here is another one. Yesterday he went outside with me to put water on the garden. I hooked the hose up to the pipe in the garden and went to turn on the water and I found him with his pants off. I asked him what he was doing and looked down to notice that he pooped on the sidewalk. I just laughed. I dont know what his deal has been lately but it seems like we have taken a step back with him going to the bathroom. I just dont know about this kid, but boys will be boys. They sure do things a lot different than girls, but what fun it is to be the mother to a wonderful little boy!

6 MONTHS!

Wow! Ashlee turned 6 months on Sunday and we went to her 6 month check-up yesterday. She is still pretty small and her growing has slowed down a little. I just think that she is going to be a little petite thing. Oh well, we have to go back to the doctor in 3 months to check her growth. She is healthy though, just on the small side and just as cute and happy as ever!

Cute Little Logan

So I have been meaning to get a few of Logans funny little sayings written down. It has been a few weeks since he said these, but I still remember them and they make me smile. I love this little boy and he sure is full of life.

First off, we drink more chocolate milk at our house than anything. It is absolutely Matt and Logans favorite thing to drink. We buy two huge chocolate milk things from Costco every other month. So that goes to show you just how much these two drink. Anyway, a few weeks ago we were outside and I saw Logan putting dirt into Phantoms water bucket and I told him to stop, and he replied," I making chocolate for Phantom." I couldnt get mad, he was just trying to share all the goodness of chocolate milk with his pal Phantom :)!!!!

So I am always doing the little pigs with Logan's toes. He now does it with Ashlee's toes when she doesnt have something covering her toes. It is pretty cute to watch. Well a few weeks ago, he was playing and he stubbed his toes and he crawled up on the couch beside me and was crying and he said, "Mommy my piggies." I couldnt help but laugh a little and then we took care of his hurt little piggies. :)!!!!!!!!!!

He sure is a one of a kind kid and we wouldnt want it any other way!

2011 Garden

I am so excited that it is Gardening Season. Although it has still been pretty cold and rainy with very few sunny days in between, I have a few things planted. I have to say a million thank yous to Zac because he roto-tilled our garden for us, because Matthew was sick and I was chomping at the bits to get into my garden. I feel bad though because Laura is still waiting for hers to be roto-tilled.

So my dad went to this Gardening seminar this past winter and he sent me this book that the guy who taught their class wrote (I think anyway). I have read almost the whole book and have realized that I do a lot of things wrong in my garden. Mostly I water everything wrong, and after reading a looking back to last years garden I can see where I went wrong. We had beautiful plants last year, but the harvest was a little disappointing, and according to the book thats what was supposed to happen with our poor watering job. So I have read the book and outlined my garden plan and my watering schedule. So I hope that it will help me have a bountiful harvest this year.

So here is my garden layout and the watering schedule.

So the book told me how far apart the rows should be and how to plant and water everything. So I am trying it like is says in the book and I will see what works and what doesnt. The cool weather plants such as my carrots and potatoes need water twice a week. My cucumbers, onions, peppers, beans, corn and pumpkins need watered once a week, and my tomatoes need watered every 10-14 days. The water is supposed to sit in the furrows (or corrugates as I call them) for at least an hour and that is all the water they need.

Here is the garden all laid out and grass clippings around the border.

I am so excited because this year we actually did a watering system. It isnt anything special, but it works for what we have. And all we have is the hose coming from the house. So what we did was get 1/2" PVC pipe and then a piece that attaches to the hose for all four sections of our pipe and then an end plug. Then we simply drilled holes in the pipe for each furrow. The sections are split so just the right amount of water comes out so that we can water for the right amount of time. All we have to do is adjust the pressure at the faucet on the house. It is pretty simple and pretty sweet. I was like a kid on Christmas when we got it all put together. Yep thats me easily excited and entertained :)!

I have to say that my carrots are coming up, the onions are really coming up and a few potatoes and corn are starting to come up too!!!! I just need a little bit more warmer days so that I can feel comfortable to plant the rest of my garden. Oh its going to be a fabulous gardening season. I can already taste it :)!!!!

A few cute little stories about Logan helping me:

We were making the furrows with our hoes and we were only about half way done and Logan walks and puts his hoe down at the bottom of the rows and says "Mommy, I tired." Then he goes inside and gets his cup with milk in it. I couldnt stop laughing. What a cute little boy!

A while back Logan went with me to buy the onions and I bought one package of white onions and one package of yellow onions. He insisted that he carry one package to the counter and ever since then that has been his package of onions. So when we went to plant them, he gave me mine and he kept his. I couldnt even get his away from him so that I could open it to plant them. Anyway, we were planting them and he had to help so I would mark in the mud where he needed to plant them and I would say "boop" and he would put one right where I would show him. He then would say "boop" everytime and give me the biggest smile. I loved it. He is such a big helper and I love that the garden gives us time to work together and have fun.

Thats why I love gardening. It is relaxing and we all have fun doing it :)!!!

Change!

I have to say that I am definitely a person who loves change. Change is good for me and even though it can be overwhelming in many ways, I always love it. I was released from Young Womens today, which is sad because I have loved all the girls that I have gotten to know. We really have had a good group of girls. I loved teaching them on Sundays and we always seemed to have fun activities on Wednesday. I am going to miss working with them, but I have quite the adventure coming up. I was called to be the PRIMARY PRESIDENT! I am thinking the same thing that everyone else is thinking, REALLY? I am completely scared to death, nervous, I definitely feel inadequate in every way, so this will definitely we a great experience for me. I think the unknown is good for me. I haven't been in, or done anything with primary for over 15 years! So to say that I have no idea what is going on is an understatement. I am going to jump right in and I hope that I picked the right ladies to help me through this new journey. I will definitely be asking for help from anyone I can, so anyone with any advice I would greatly appreciate it.

Aidens Birthday and Helping Friends

So today is Aidens 2nd Birthday. They had a birthday party for him yesterday, but he got sick so we didnt end up going. I feel really bad for not going, but HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO AIDEN!

We ended up going over to help some friends pack their stuff, because they are moving to Arizona. It was rainy again and not many people showed up to help so it was a good thing that we swung by. We spent a few hours loading their uhaul and getting their car loaded on the trailer. Glad we were able to see them again before they left this morning.

So Maceys 1st Birthday was on Tuesday the 10th and we went out to a BBQ/ Birthday Party. I didnt get any pictures of the cute Birthday Girl, but she is so stinking cute. So Happy 1st Birthday to Macey!

On the way home we saw a beautiful double rainbow, because once again it was another rainy day. The rainbow was beautiful and we stopped so that Logan could see it.

Mothers Day Weekend!

So Mothers Day weekend was busy. First of all Matthew had been sick all week, which was no fun around here. Then Friday morning he woke up and told me to look in his throat, so I did and it looked pretty disgusting. We both were pretty sure that he had strep-throat. So we got him an appointment here in Buhl at the Family Health Services. When we saw the dr and she looked in his throat she was like WOW! We are definitely going to do a strep test and it came back in just a few minutes positive, which was no surprise to us. Then she told Matthew that he had two choices, that he could either have a one time shot with the antibiotics (which is going to sting) or he could take antibiotics for 10 days, twice a day. He chose the shot and the dr was shocked and said really ?! So the nurse came in to give the shot and when Matthew looked at it he said it looked pretty thick. (Me I am just laughing to myself, because I definitely would have chosen the 10 days of antibiotics). So the nurse says ok I need you to pull your pants down a little bit because this shot goes in the butt. (I am laughing even harder to myself now). So Matthew does and the nurse winds up and gives him the shot like she is throwing darts and I saw him flinch pretty good, but he didnt say anything until the nurse left. Then he said it felt like he got hit in the butt with a baseball ( Now I was laughing out loud). He thought that he was pretty tough and the shot sure got the best of him. But in the end he said that he would get the shot again because within 12 hours he was felling a whole lot better. So his weekend was spent laying on the couch resting.

However, after his appointment we went into Twin because I needed to run some errands and I made him go with me so I could keep an eye on him. He rested at my moms house while I met up with my sister to run our errands. First we stopped and got Matthew some throat spray and some juice then we went and bought my mom some flowers to plant in her pots in front of her house, because that is what we do for her every Mothers Day. So we did that and then stopped and grabbed everyone lunch and went back to my moms house to plant flowers. We hung out there for a while and just talked and let Logan play outside.

Then we all left so that Matthew could take a nap and we ran into the mall to just walk around and look. It sure was a nice day and a fun day to celebrate Mothers Day with my mom. We sure love her for everything that she does for us and our kids.

Then we stopped by my Grandparents house, to spend a little time with them. I guess that I didnt take to many pictures there, but I did get a few more of Michelle with the kids.

Then Saturday my dad and Cyndi came up from Utah, so I loaded the kids up and headed back into Twin to spend the day with them. We sure had fun despite the rainy weather we had all day. We talked, had a delicious turkey dinner and then pretty much played games all afternoon. We had fun hanging out with them and my grandparents. We got a late start home that night, because I had promised our Sunday school class that we would bring them oreo cupcakes to class and I still had to make them. So I stayed up until 12 that night baking oreo cupcakes. Finally I got those done and went to bed.

Sunday morning came and I was the only one going to church. I was going to take Logan and Matthew was going to keep Ashlee home with him, but Logan was still sleeping at 8:45 when I left so he missed church too. So I went to church and we had a great Sacrament Meeting, I thought. Then I had to teach our Sunday School class, but it was a good thing that we played review jeopardy and then ate cupcakes. Then I had to teach young women's, which I really enjoy. Then I came home and ran some cupcakes to Lisa for Mothers Day. A small thank you for all the wonderful things she does for us. Then we headed over to the Garners and had dinner with them for Mothers Day.

So it was a busy but fun Mothers Day weekend at our house this year!

Haileys Birthday!

So on April 30th was Haileys 2nd Birthday Party. It was out at Flint and Lisas, and Brandon and Maricela had a bounce house and a little train. It was a windy day but the kids had fun.

Good News

So yesterday we headed to Boise for another test. That is a test for Matthews schooling. This was his Life Span Psychology. He was not feeling good and had been sick for two days. He never really gets sick and this was bad. We couldnt get out of it, because you have to give 24 hours notice to cancel or you lose you testing fee which was $250. So there was no backing out of it. So we loaded our kiddos in the car and headed to Boise. Both kids slept the whole way up which made the car ride easy. It was a pretty boring ride for me because Matthew was studying, kids were asleep and I couldnt listen to the radio. So I said it utter silence. We did make it to the testing center in time and Matthew took his test and PASSED! He didnt do as well as he wanted to but he said that he had a hard time concentrating. So he passed and its time to get ready for his next one. :)!

So while he was taking his test we went to my Uncle Jerrys house and played in his yard. It is great that he lives about 5 minutes from the testing center and I was able to let Logan stretch his legs and Ashlee get out of her carseat. It was a fun hour or so. Planes kept flying over head and Logan kept telling me that there was an airplane and then he would point them out to me. He just got so excited. He really is such a good little boy. I love all the time that I get to spend with him.

Then we pick Matthew up from his test and headed back home. We stopped in Mountain Home at the Subway and grab a bite to eat. Logan got a small cup of ice cream and was the happiest little boy ever. He wanted a cookie to but we negotiated and just got the ice cream. So although it was quick trip because I had a sick husband, it was a fun trip.

I thought she looked cute in her outfit. I put a hat on because we spent time outside. She sure is getting quite the personality. She is a happy baby and smiles most of the time, but she is a serious baby. I remember Logan just giggling a lot by now, and Ashlee just smiles and give a few little laughs here and there. I am just amazed at how different they are. Love them both very much though :)!
